The Early Medieval Collection Blatnica - How Do Legends Arise?

The famous collection of Early Medieval weapon and decorations of Carolingian and Avar origin for over 150 years is presented to public as “inventory of a grave of the nobleman from Blatnica”. The presentation shows a more focused perspective on this issue and provides all the necessary pieces of information about each part of the collection together with a history of its acquisition. It led to the conclusion that it was only a loose collection of relics coming from different and so far unknown sources and “the nobleman” is only an artificial construct.
