Sex and Sexuality of Ancient Greeks and Romans

Titz Mozaik

Predavanje SEX AND SEXUALITY OF ANCIENT GREEKS AND ROMANS u sklopu kulturnog programa FOUR SEASONS of CZECH CULTURE.

Lecture SEX AND SEXUALITY OF ANCIENT GREEKS AND ROMANS within the cultural program FOUR SEASONS of CZECH CULTURE.

Did the ancients perceived sexuality the same way we perceive it today? Was sex for them something similarly intimate and mostly hidden away from the public view? And how did they even understand the intimacy? What were the roles of those involved in the game and what the Greek and Roman gods and practised cults have in common with all of this? The lecture will present the available sources of information like the ancient texts and particular archaeological finds related to the sexuality of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Topics like prostitution, homosexuality and pederasty will be discussed too.
