The lecture will focus on two rituals, the full texts of which were first discovered in terms of the Czech excavations at Abusir. The royal purification ritual takes up the entire northern and part of the eastern wall of the Iufaa´s tomb, and it is accompanied by related myths and their respective illustrations. In this form the text is unique, although an incomplete version of the ritual has been preserved on a several centuries younger papyrus. The embalming ritual with its accompanying vignettes takes up half of the southern wall of Iufaa´s tomb. In this form, it is not known from any other sources, even though some of the vignettes have been preserved on mummy wrappings.
